With the seniors sitting at 2 and 6 and the reserves 3 and 5 the season was starting to look a little bleak. Manningham at home was our next assignment this was about our last chance to turn things around and head into the second half of the season on a positive note.
The reserves got things off to a good start getting out to a 4 goal lead at quarter time. Manningham came back strong all day but the 2s, to their credit, we were able to hold them off for a 3 point win. Freight, being such a generous soul, even gave them a kick after the siren to try and pinch the win. Luckily it dropped short and the ressies got to sing the song with gusto.
The seniors found themselves in the opposite position and were forced to chase for most of the day. Regular stars Sahand and Jeffers quickly made friends with their taggers who I’m pretty sure are still following them now. A lot of other boys had good games with Paddy back kicking ridiculous goals, Phil taking strong marks in the backline, Ruch playing out of his skin all around the ground and J-Mak getting a hand to everything in the ruck. Special mentions are also needed for Coxy’s monster set shot from outside the arc and also to Zuds for kicking what must be the ugliest goal anyone has ever seen. Good thing it was the winning one…
After trailing all day North Brunswick stole the lead late in the final term and held on for the longest 4 minutes of Brad’s life to secure an 8 point win. Definitely feels good to be back in the winner’s circle!
